[Narrator]
The scene: a busy suburban shopping area where a crucial mission is about to be waylaid by fraud.

[Bot]
Thank you for calling Desert Valley Credit Union. My name is Sam and I’m here to assist you with any financial questions or concerns you may have. How can I help you today?

[Jordan]
Hey Sam. I’m not doing too well. I was just at the store buying a birthday gift for my daughter and my credit card was declined. I don’t know why. Is there a problem with my account? This is so frustrating. My daughter’s birthday is in 2 days and this is my only credit card. What do I do?

[Bot]
I’m very sorry to hear that. I can understand how frustrating that must have been for you. Don’t worry – I can help you find out why your credit card was declined and work with you to get this resolved quickly. Before we get started, I need to get some information from you, is that okay?

[Jordan]
Yes.

[Bot]
May I have your first and last name?

[Jordan]
Sure, it’s Jordan Davis.

[Bot]
Thank you Jordan. Would you please tell me the complete card number?

[Jordan]
Yes it’s 40115623657965.

[Bot]
Thank you. To access your account, I need to verify your identity. I’ll need some addition information from you. Would you please provide me with your birth date?

[Jordan]
Yeah, uh, it’s January 3rd 1980.

[Bot]
Great. To complete the verification process, I’m going to send a text message to the phone number we have on file. The message contains a six-digit code. Please let me know when you have received the message.

[Jordan]
I’ve received the message.

[Bot]
Could you please provide me the code?

[Jordan]
Sure, it’s 903 848.

[Bot]
Thank you for verifying your information. Let me look at your account. I’ve discovered the reason your card was declined. There are three charges that were posted to your account yesterday that total $1,000. When you tried to charge your purchase today, your card was over your limit. Do you recognize any of the following charges: Amazon for $567, Apple for $234, and Walmart for $199.

[Jordan]
No no those are not my charges. I-it wasn’t on me, what’s going to happen?

[Bot]
I see. It’s possible that someone has made fraudulent charges using your card number. Since you don’t recognize these charges, we are going to mark them as fraudulent. I’m going to cancel this card immediately and issue you a new card. I’ll have the new card sent to you overnight so you’ll receive it tomorrow by noon. Once it ships, we’ll send you a confirmation email with the tracking information. Since you are a valued customer, would you like to see if you qualify for an increase in your credit limit?

[Jordan]
Sure, yes, that’d be great.

[Bot]
Could you provide me with the last four digits of your Social Security number?

[Jordan]
Yes 7890.

[Bot]
Thank you. One moment while I check your credit score. Great news Jordan you qualify for a $2,000 increase in your credit limit. Would you like me to apply this to your account?

[Jordan]
Yes please.

[Bot]
Okay. You’re all set. As soon as you activate your new card, you will have a new credit limit of $3,000. Is there anything else I can help you with today?

[Jordan]
No, I think that’ll take care of me for now, thanks a lot.

[Bot]
Okay. Thank you for calling Desert Valley Credit Union and have a great day.

[Jordan]
Thank you.

[Narrator]
And Jordan continued his day with a little extra peace of mind – all thanks to Sam.
