Welcome to another edition of IntelePeer’s Tech Tuesday series. This week Roxanne Moore, Number Activations Specialist, shares how she ended up in tech, what her career experience has been like, and the admiration she has for her role models.
1. What first got you interested in working in technology?
I honestly hadn’t thought about working in technology, it just kind of happened. I was working as a Product Specialist in the automotive industry which required a lot of travel.
Luckily, a local dealer asked me to join them as a technology specialist, teaching people how to use technology in their vehicles. When COVID came around, that position was no longer available. I came to IntelePeer with the help of a past coworker, and I love it.
2. What AI or machine learning capabilities are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to learning more about CPaaS. Every day is a learning experience for me here.
3. What was the most challenging aspect of your career and how did you overcome it?
I didn’t seek out this career, so I didn’t have challenges getting here. However, I foresee having challenges advancing. Not because the opportunity isn’t there but because I have limited experience and knowledge.
I plan to take in as much information and training as I can to move forward and advance to a successful and enjoyable career.
4. Any advice for women who want to join the tech industry?
If this is what you want to do, do it.
5. What advice would you give your younger self who is just starting in the workforce?
“Buckle up, it’s going to be a long bumpy road.” I have no regrets about where I’ve been or the work choices I’ve made. Maybe I’d add “it works out in the end,” for comfort.
Bonus: Who are your tech role models?
My supervisors. I look up to them since they are who I know in the tech industry. The knowledge they have blows my mind some days.
